What the Newly Unsealed Jeffrey Epstein Document Actually Says

After years of being locked away under a strict legal seal, a federal judge in New York has just ordered the release of a highly debated handwritten document linked to the late Jeffrey Epstein.

The handwritten note was originally discovered back in 2019 by his then-cellmate at a Manhattan correctional center.

For years, the document remained entirely hidden from the public as part of his former cellmate’s own complex court proceedings.

However, after The New York Times formally requested access to the document, U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas ruled that there was no longer a valid legal reason to keep it a secret.

The judge stated that the public has a “strong presumptive right of access” to these kinds of judicial documents. He noted that keeping court files public ensures transparency and accountability within the justice system.

Furthermore, because the cellmate had already discussed the note’s contents in media interviews, the court ruled that any confidentiality privilege was officially waived.

So, what exactly did the unsealed document say?

In the newly released note, Epstein appeared to heavily reference his past legal investigations while expressing deep frustration with the system.

“They investigated me for months – found nothing!!!” the handwritten note reads.

He followed up that complaint with a final, definitive statement: “Time to say goodbye.”

While other portions of the letter remain difficult to read, the release

of this document marks a major victory for freedom of information advocates who have been fighting for transparency in this high-profile case.
